Almost ten years ago, I was at a silent meditation retreat in the Quebec countryside. As I was taking the first of my daily walks through the woods, the opening of this song came to me. Each day I would walk the path and observe the frozen world around me, and add to the song in my head.
The thesis of the song came when I met an Elder who introduced himself by saying "My name is Vern, and I've survived 82 Canadian winters!"
It made me think about the cycles we experience living here in the north, and how they give us particular way of keeping track of time, and unique perspective on survival.
It's been brought to life by such an amazing team of talented people!

"Thank You" begins as a reverent invocation, naming the dark nights of the season ans the soul. It ends in blusey celebration to the friends who hold us up when we're down and catch us when we fall. With a unique through composed form, "Thank You" is a journey from the depths of despair to jubilant gratitude.
